On this page are some of the UK's most loved locomotives working very special heritage style tours or if we're really lucky they might be out on public service as a regular commuter service.
This selection of images are some of the best captures across the network. A more comprehensive section of certain locomotion will be available on the 'TOURS' page. 91119 Bounds Green
#followtheswallow
British Railways Class 91119 was left at Brounds Green Train depot like many others soon as the HST title will be passed to Azuma Trains, replacing all class 91 stock. So as a sign of this change this train was put back into it's original livery - BR Intercity Swallow design to make this occasion. Running from London Kings Cross Station up the East Coast to Leeds, this was one event I could not miss. Originally named Bounds Green INTERCITY Depot 1977- 2017 on the Virgin Trains East Coast to mark 40 years service to the rail industry. The class 91 started to provide a service from March 1991, today LNER use these units to provide the same service. In this original new livery it's first moment from London Kings Cross to Leeds. My trip to Leeds was not wasted, many enthusiast lined up on platform 6 to watch it's arrival. We were not disappointed, seeing this roll in smoothly - like it's just been built was a pleasure to watch. Taking a moment to imagine how many people have spent time working this engine and maintaining it's purpose baffles my mind. 100's of hard working rail staff have looked after this train and it's sisters to keep the East Coast alive. From a West Coast fan sneaking on to the competition's network today may I just say thank you for rekindling many minds of what this country has done on the railways. A huge thank you to Bounds Green and LNER for bringing a pleasurable vista to the East Coast. Like many of the steam stock, this is a change in time to newer machines on the network and it's soon time for the predecessors to move over. Class 43, 91's 37's and more that worked the rails for 40 + still work hard today are coming into retirement and so is the variety of trains available for enthusiasts. |

In a generations time, the grandeur and sounds of these classic locos will all be reduced to heritage railways where it will be my turn like my parents with steam to say "I used to see these running on the tracks at my station" They were really Happy days!
