DalesRail (Still) Needs You | Community Rail Lancashire

DalesRail may not be operating in 2020 but that doesn’t stop us sharing our many interesting experiences about our journeys. We hope you will share your interesting stories, favourite walks, fascinating anecdotes, and pictures and help us create a virtual DalesRail season.

So far CRL have had seventeen ‘Tales from DalesRail’ submitted and these can be seen, read and downloaded from the special page on the DalesRail.com website at www.communityraillancashire.co.uk/tales-from-dalesrail/.

The tales so far include favourite walks including an ascent of Pen-y-Ghent, a walk around Podgill & Merrygill viaducts and others along with town trails and descriptions of the scenic aspect of the route between Blackpool and Carlisle via the Ribble Valley, Settle Carlisle Line and Eden Valley.

A short animation has been made by Katie, a member of the CRL team and this has been uploaded to YouTube and can be seen by clicking on the image below:

Richard Watts, Chair of CRL and regular DalesRailer, commented; “DalesRail may not be operating this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic but that doesn’t mean we can’t take a virtual journey on the train by sharing our thoughts and experiences on line.

DalesRail has a long and rich history including its role in saving the Settle – Carlisle and Blackburn – Hellifield lines. I look forward to hearing from you and remember to keep an eye on the special DalesRail website www.dalesrail.com for regular updates”

If you feel inspired to contribute a tale or anecdote of your own then please send them in to either richard.watts.crl@gmail.com or simon.clarke.crl@gmail.com  and keep an eye on the ‘Tales from DalesRail‘ page as new items are being added regularly.

Below is the Dales Rail advert I (nodrog) filmed for season 2020... now set for 2021.
