On my travels now and then I feature a station with free photos, today is Whaley Bridge serving the town of Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire. This station is on the Manchester to Buxton railway.
Once holding a signal box until 1983 This station today is operated by Northern and holds a friends group who attend to the needs of the flower beds, general appearance and minor maintenance of this station.
Built and opened by the London North Western Railway in June 1857 it was to originality serve services to Stockport, Disley then to connected with the Cromford and High Peak Railway and extended to Buxton in 1863.
