A full-scale replica of one of the carriages on public view at Liverpool Lime Street Station Nov 2018.
This mock-up has working electronic doors and a sliding step! This automatically pops out across the gap to the platform edge thus fully accessible to users in wheelchairs. With an extra 50% passenger capacity with USB and power sockets this is truly bringing the Mersey Rail fleet up to date. One of the special features of this Swiss built train is it's been designed for future adaption for overhead power.
The 777 class train will be on the network by 2020 once the platforms across the area have been adapted for these great new trains. This upgrade of stock was initially talked about in 2011, a £460m order.
Over 52 four car units made in Switzerland by Stadler will perform faster, slashing an average of eight minutes of most routes (End to end). This proves Mersey Rail are passionate about delivering the very best to it's customers using this exciting new service.
